Director, Special Education, ESC Region 9
Cindy Moses is the Director of Special Education for Region 9 ESC. Prior to coming to Region 9 in January of 2015, she served as Director of Special Education for Wichita Falls ISD and Clay-Jack SSA, a cooperative of eight school districts. Cindy is a former TCASE president, having the unique opportunity to serve two terms during the 13-14 and 14-15 school years. She uses her experiences to provide training and technical assistance on the gamut of special education issues from legal issues, budgeting processes, compliance and performance monitoring, to instructional support, parent involvement and participation and child-centered decision making among many others.
Director, Special Education, Springtown ISD
Stacy Johnson has been the director of Special Education for Springtown ISD since 2000. She is also currently serving as the district testing coordinator and district 504 coordinator, and is a member of the board of directors for TCASE. Prior to her role of director of special education for Springtown ISD, Stacy was an Educational Diagnostician, PPCD teacher and kindergarten teacher. She has a BS and MEd from University of North Texas.
Dr. Deena Hill
Executive Director, Special Education, Fort Bend ISD
Dr. Hill has over 25 years of experience working with students with disabilities in both the private and public settings. She is a veteran special education director who has worked in a variety of central office positions in several districts. She is currently the Executive Director for Special Education and Learning Support Services in Fort Bend ISD. Prior to working in Fort Bend ISD, Dr. Hill served as the Executive Director of Special Programs in Pasadena ISD and as the Director of Special Education in Brazosport ISD.
Director, Special Education, Atascosa-McMullen Co-op
Lynse Pawelek has worked in Pleasanton ISD for 37 years. She taught third grade and then Special Education at the Pleasanton Junior High before becoming the Primary School Counselor in 1990. In 2000, she transferred to the Special Education Co-op as a Special Ed Counselor and became its Director in 2005. The SSA supervises itinerant services for 5 school districts south of San Antonio. Lynse also serves on the TCASE Board of Directors and the Texas Continuous Improvement Steering Committee.
Executive Director, Special Education, Pflugerville ISD
Cara Schwartz is the Executive Director of Special Education in Pflugerville ISD. Prior to her role in Pflugerville, Cara held several administrative positions with Georgetown ISD, most recently serving as the executive director of special and federal programs for the past three years, which includes oversight of special education and dyslexia programs and Section 504 compliance for the district. Previous positions with GISD include special education director and executive director of special education & Section 504. Cara has experience dealing with a broad array of special education issues, including dyslexia, Section 504 compliance, Texas Education Agency mediation/due process hearings, Office of Civil Rights complaints, state and federal law, and more.
