This day and a half event is designed specifically for new or aspiring special education directors, or anyone who is involved in the budgeting process, this workshop will give attendees a road map for projecting funds and building a compliant, data driven, local, state, and federal special education budget.  Topics will include the budgeting process, funding sources, allowable and unallowable expenditures, budget monitoring and adjustment. Participants will practice appropriate coding of budget expenditures and will learn tools and strategies for building a compliant budget. An overview of Maintenance of Effort will be included.

About the Presenter:

 

Cindy Moses is the Director of Special Education for Region 9 ESC. Prior to joining Region 9 in January of 2015, she served as Director of Special Education for Wichita Falls ISD and Clay-Jack SSA, a cooperative of eight school districts. Cindy has just completed the presidential track cycle of TCASE, having the unique opportunity to serve as TCASE President for the 13-14 and 14-15 school years. She uses her experiences to provide trainings and technical assistance on the gamut of special education issues from legal issues, budgeting processes, compliance and performance monitoring, to instructional support, parent involvement and participation and child-centered decision making among many others. Her passion is to assist special education directors to not only be effective in their extremely complex and difficult role, but for them to feel satisfied and fulfilled with the work they do to serve students with disabilities. Cindy has a particular interest in supporting new directors to ensure a successful launch in this adventure and to guide them in avoiding some of the troublesome pitfalls.

 

 



 

Cancellation Policy:
All cancellations must be received in writing by the TCASE office no later than Tuesday February 28, 2017. Written cancellations received by the deadline will receive a refund minus a 20% handling fee.  Cancellations after the February 28, 2017 deadline are non-refundable.  Transfers are welcome up to March 6, 2017.  To cancel, please send an email with details of the cancellation or transfers to vicki@tcase.org.
 
Payment Policy:
Payment for all registrations is due at or before the time the event takes place.  
Regardless of the situation, it is the responsibility of the individual registrant to pay any balance that was not paid for by the employer, including cancellation or no show charges.
 
Changes to registration may only be made by emailing vicki@tcase.org.  The email must include the registrants name and a list of items to be changed.
